Sweet nothings

"Sweet and whimsical laced with an underpinning of darkness...."

I really like this statement. Think I would use it as a focus for a collection of objects.

This would look cute as the trim for a hat!

Mmmm....macarons....

Here are a few pics of my second atempt at macarons. Not too bad if I might say so myself! :)
Check out that ganache filling!

After being in existence for more than a few hours, only three macarons remained....

Shortly after the photo shoot the macarons found themselves to be no more.

A book for Tom

Tom has been drawing a lot of dragons lately, so I made him a dragon drawing book.
I just stitched paper folded in half (about 7 sheets at a time) to some felt, the stitched the felt to a few sheets of cardboard. Covered it in an old paper bag and then added the details. I think next time I would like to leave the handles of the paper bag attached. Then he could have a carry book.

Jacob helped take this last one.

I LOVE Macarons!!

I had never even heard of these delectable little delights a few weeks ago, but now I am so totally hooked!! How could you turn down something that looks like this? I know I couldn't. So I decided I would have to try my hand at making some, to see why everyone was raving about them, they are becoming like the new cupcake trend that hit Sydney a few years back, but they are no where near as simple to make as cupcakes. There is a real art and science to making macarons, or so I am told by macaron extraordinaire Duncan on his website Syrup and Tang.

It is essential to read through all of the instructions to really gather the enormity of the task of cooking macarons, however, if one isn't deterred by the temperamental tidbits then one will be greatly rewarded by the delicate outcome.

Little Oven from Etsy has mastered the art of macarons, with flavours including dark chocolate, pistachio, raspberry, green tea and caramel fleur de sel. Syrup and Tang by Duncan explores white chocolate and passionfruit, finger lime and chocolate and subtle cinnamon and dark chocolate. Those who know me will know the delight I take in the exotic variety of flavours that can be married to the light delicacies.

Pretty Purses

I love this purse from BagatellesandCo from Etsy. I will have to try and make one this style when I get my supplies!
Here is a great purse tutorial at u-handbag

Headbands from Heart of Light

Ruffle headband tutorial from Heart of Light. More tutorials on her website. Beautiful site.

Crespedia

Could be a cute idea to crochet yellow blooms to look like this.

Corsage pin

Gorgeous packaging for these corsages. Love the simplicity of the handwritten "for you" and the idea of using a tag for it to pin to. Beautiful blog too...Heart of Light

More blooming paper

More paper roses, these ones made from a romance novel (hopefully not Mills&Boon!)
